Sangrita

This is a traditional chaser for tequila. Sangrita literally means, “little blood”. This recipe makes about 1 quart.

Ready

Set

Go

  1. Parboil tomatoes; peel them.
  2. Place in food processor along with citrus juices, chilis or chili powder, onion, and sugar.
  3. Puree.
  4. Add Tabasco to taste.
  5. Chill until cold. Strain into pitcher.
  6. Serve in shot glass along with tequila, in shot glass, salt, and lime wedges.

What you should know

If you don’t have time to make this from scratch, use canned tomato juice and add rest of ingredients.
