Bitter Martini

Submitted by Al Dente on 25 October 2007 - 4:20am

The martini wasn’t always the dry creature that it is today. Perhaps it has suffered its only little variant of global warming, becoming increasingly parched with the passing of time. Here is a sweeter “wetter” version that was popular during the dry days of prohibition. It is my martini of choice.

Ready

Set

Go

  1. Chill a martini glass in freezer.
  2. Mix gin, dry vermouth, and orange bitters in cocktail shaker.
  3. Add ice.
  4. Cover.
  5. Shake (or alternately stir).
  6. Strain into chilled martini glass.
  7. Garnish with 3 olives.
  8. Serve and enjoy.

What you should know

Pour in small proportions. Large drinks equal ½ drunk lukewarm dishwater.
