Queer plum cake

Submitted by andrea and david on 28 October 2006 - 5:42am

It’s not queer, plum or cake, but it is really easy and really good. Dads who are afraid of the kitchen, this one is for you. The kids love making this one too. So, what’s with the name? Here’s the story I got. At a family get together that lasted a day or two too long, my friend Top’s sister complained that she was hungry. Their mother pointed to the dining room table and said “why don’t you get a plate”. The sister looked distainfully at the spread, and said “I want some good food, not some hummos, or tabbouleh or…or…QUEER PLUM CAKE”. The name stuck. Did I mention that Tops is gay, and he made this tart?

Most fruit will work, slice kind of thin. You can arrange the fruit in any design you choose. I once made a flag for a 4th of July party. Really easy.
