This turkey chili is a family favorite that is a nice recipe for a cold night. It’s easy to make provided you have the time to let it simmer.

  1. Heat a large saucepan over high heat and add the oil, spreading it so that it evenly coats the bottom of the pot.
  2. When the oil is hot, add the onion, celery, and carrots. Cook until onion is translucent.
  3. Add turkey and cook, stirring often, until the turkey has lost most of its pinkness - about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic and cook 1 minute.
  5. Add the chili powder, cayenne, cumin, oregeno, nutmeg, tumeric, and cook, stirring continuously, for 1 minute.
  6. Add the tomatoes and salt and stir well to combine.
  7. Bring the chili to a boil, and then reduce the heat to low and simmer, partially covered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve.
