White Trash Toffee

I can’t even begin to imagine how this recipe began but butter, sugar, chocolate? I’m in! With its salty sweet goodness, this is a major crowd pleaser.

Ready

Set

Go

  1. Place the saltines next to each other on the baking sheet
  2. In the saucepan bring the butter and sugar just to a boil and cook for about 3 minutes, until thicker, but not until it becomes caramel
  3. Pour over saltines and place in oven for about 3 mins. It will be very bubbly when it comes out
  4. Sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the saltine mess and place back in the oven for 1 minute
  5. Take out of the oven and spread the chocolate evenly over the saltines
  6. Sprinkle lightly with chopped almonds
  7. Place cookie sheet in freezer for about an hour to set
  8. Break into pieces

What you should know

Stores great in the freezer. Serving frozen is good too - or any way you like.
