Chicken soup slows neutrophils

Yesterday I felt a cold coming on. There was only one thing for it: chicken soup. Thankfully I had a gallon of the pure stuff in the freezer. I thawed it, drank it and woke this morning feeling …

Matzo balls

For years I was convinced that every Grandmother secretly used the box when it came time to make matzo balls. How wrong I was. Making your own is as simple as opening the box. Here’s how I do …

Chicken dumpling soup

This recipe has been in my husband’s family for generations! His mother comes into town to stay with us several times a year, and we always ask her to make it for us and our kids. Even though, …

I’m adding this recipe which is another Polish one, from my mum. It’s called White Stew. It is a wholesome, wonderful meal, great for cool winter nights.

'Janey' soup

This is something made by my mother-in-law and by no one else that I know of except those to whom she taught the recipe (me and my sister-in-law). It’s ambrosia and nectar combined, and a bit …

Chicken Soup

In his Jewsian Chicken Soup David makes a great suggestion for creating clear soup.

Cover the chicken in cold water and bring to the boil.

After about 5 minutes of boiling, remove the chicken and rinse under cold water. Discard the boiled, scummy water.
